God's Steadfast Love

Psalm 136
Mike Armstrong

I will give thanks to God, for his steadfast love endures forever:

1. He's been faithful to those before me (v. 1-22)
2. He's my salvation though I'm undeserving (v. 23)
3. He's with me throughout the battle (v. 24)
4. He's providing for me at all times (v. 25)

SG Curriculum
1.     What are some things we need constant reminding about?
2.     Has there been a time when God’s love for you meant everything to you?
3.     How can we reconcile God’s love with his justice?  (Read Romans 9:14-18)
4.     Share how God’s love found you in your lowly estate.  (vs. 23)
5.     Read Psalm 52:8-9.  What does this passage tell us about God’s timing in rescuing us?
6.     What are some things God has already provided for us?

Breakout:
1. What do I need from God for this week?
2. How can we focus this week on God’s love for us?

Not Going Back - Worship Rises

"Consider You Ways": Getting over ourselves to see God's glory
Haggai 1-2
Mike Armstrong

I must consider my ways...

- because what I'm going after is empty in the end (1:1-11)
- so I can engage in what's most important (1:12-15)
- that I can experience what it means to live God's way (2:1-23)

Small Group Curriculum

1.     It is wise to consider our ways! If you take a regular time to review and reflect on your life, what do you include in that and how do you structure it?
2.     After 15 years it was obvious the Israelites had “set their hearts” on something other than God’s purpose for them.  Do you think this a greater temptation in the Western church than other places?
3.     How can we tell if we are busy about “empty pursuits”? (1:6)
4.     Share some things we can do to be open for God to stir up our hearts. (1:14)
5.     Read 2:3-9.  What does this passage tell us about evaluating things just with our eyes?
6.     What are some present blessings God is giving us?

Breakout:
1. On a scale of 1 = complacent to 10 = fervent, how would I rate my spiritual desire?
2. What is the one area of obedience God has let me know about but that I seem frozen in neutral over?
