Not Going Back - Love Unleashed

God is Forever Faithful in the Face of my Failure
Esther
Todd Dugard

Study note:  A little unusual for us, but the following outline in Esther will be the basis for the messages for last week, this week and next Sunday as well.  Esther is one historical narrative with one plot and one main message.  We'll work through a portion of the outline each Sunday and complete it, Lord willing, on Sunday, July 17.  The actions of the main characters will form the basis for hearing what God has for us in this great account of his work on behalf of his people.

Am I facing any of these failures?

The foolishness of over-indulgence - King Ahasuerus (1:1)

The pursuit of comfort and what's-best-for-me - Mordecai (2:5)

The crisis of love and identity - Esther (2:7)

The bitterness of rage that flows from unforgiveness - Haman the Agagite (3:1)

The consequences of past choices - The Jews (3:13)

Or do I realize that GOD is forever faithful in the face of these failures!

Small Group Curriculum

1.     How familiar am I with my own failures?
2.     How are my present circumstances related to the following:
---Is where I have ended up a result of obedience or disobedience to God?
---Am I ashamed of being named as belonging to Jesus?  Read Romans 1:16
---Are my actions self-serving or truly seeking to honour God?
3.     How do I define myself?
4.     Share a part of your “backstory” that still informs your struggles today.
5.     Read Philippians 3:8.  What does this passage tell us?
6.     Read Philippians 1:20-21.  In what area do I need to make a commitment like Esther made?

Breakout:
1. What do I need to ask God to overcome in my life for his purposes this week?
2. What specific prayers can we pray for each other this week?
