Truly Epic...Jesus Christ and the power of an indestructible life

No fear - Jesus Christ, to whom be glory

Todd Dugard

Hebrews 13:18-25

Jesus Christ, to whom be glory…

…in our prayers (v18a)

…in our sincere desire to live for him (v18b)

…in the sense of urgency we have for the mission (v19)

…in our reconciled relationship with God (v20)

…in our surrender to his will (v21)

…in our exhortation of one another (v22)

…in our common experience of grace (v23-25)

SG Curriculum

1.     What are some things that bring glory to Jesus Christ?

2.     For what specific issues do I need the power of an indestructible life to accomplish?

3.     For what specific requests am I knocking on heaven’s door?

4.     Is there anything in my conscience or my behavior hindering my worship, my work for Christ, or the effect of God’s Word in me?

5.     Read Matthew 28:19-20 and Matthew 22:37-39.  How does urgency for this mission show in my life?

6.     Is there an exhortation I am having trouble bearing with?

Breakout:

1.     What action must I take to elevate prayer in my life?

2.     Is the peace of God hindered in my life?  What specific thing might I need to repent from?

3.     Pray for each other’s ability to bear with specific exhortations we struggle with.

Transforming Prayer:

Pray the following Scriptures.

1.     Hebrews 13:20-21

2.     Pray specific verses from Hebrews that have blessed you.

Truly Epic...Jesus Christ and the power of an indestructible life

No fear - Remember your leaders

Todd Dugard

Hebrews 13:7-17

As leaders in the church of Jesus Christ, we must remember to…

…live with integrity because the people are imitating our faith (v7)

…teach the Bible accurately because the people are listening to our words (v8-16)

…lead with humility because the people are putting themselves under our leadership (v17)

And, by the way, we have to give account to God for all this.

Truly Epic...Jesus Christ and the power of an indestructible life

No fear - Let brotherly love continue

Todd Dugard

Hebrews 13:1-6

You demonstrate obvious love for one another in the church when you are prepared to… (v1)

Sacrifice your own comfort to warmly receive new people (v2)

Risk your own security to help those who are in tough situations (v3)

Pledge yourself to your spouse above all others and honour marriage (v4)

Find complete contentment in the Lord and the things he provides for you (v5-6)

SG Curriculum

1.     How have I done with the “stir it up” pledge?
(In attendance at services, SG and serving)

2.     Has there been a time I have shown sacrificial hospitality?
Am I too busy serving myself to serve others?

3.     Do I practically identify myself with believers who are struggling in some area?
  Galatians 4:2
Am I too busy protecting myself to protect others?

4.     Is there any area in which I fail to honour marriage by somehow justifying sexual chastity as   unreasonable?
Am I too busy satisfying my own desires to satisfy God’s desires?

5.     Read 1 Timothy 6:8 and Hebrews 13:5.  Am I content?
Am I too busy getting to be giving?

6.     What do Jesus’ words, “I will never leave you or forsake you,” have to do with contentment?

 Breakout:

1.     What will I do this summer to maintain my walk and stir others up?

2.     In which area do I need to practically show brotherly love this week?

3.     What is one act of generosity I can perform for another believer this week?

Transforming Prayer:

Pray the following Scriptures.

Hebrews 13:1-6
