There’s a small black folder that sits at the end of the row on Sunday mornings. Most Sundays the person doing announcements gives instructions to fill it out and pass it down the row…do you fill it out and pass it down the row?
I want you to know that as a staff we LOVE the Friendship Register and so appreciate you taking the time to fill it out each weekend. Right now we average about 600 people each Sunday – I don’t get to interact with all 600 people (not even CLOSE!) to know that they were at church or to hear what’s going on in their lives. But the prayer requests that people share in the Friendship Register give us a glimpse into what’s going in your life and how we can come alongside you in prayer. I carve out time each week to read through all of the prayer requests and to pray specifically – this is such a sweet time in my week. Oftentimes there are requests that break my heart – so much sickness, marriages that are struggling, people praying for the salvation of their loved ones, ongoing struggles with sin and the world, broken relationships…but it is a privilege to be able to pray for people in these things. And then there are the praise reports of the awesome things that God is doing in lives – LOVE those!
There are people I pray for weekly who I have never actually sat and had a conversation with but I know their heart for the lost, for their family, for their relationship with Christ…and I LOVE these people because I pray for them!
KNOW that if you fill out the Friendship Register you WILL get prayed for by the staff team and the elders…and by the prayer team (they just won’t know it’s YOU they’re praying for). And never hesitate to call one of us during the week if you just need someone to pray with you about something – there isn’t an elder, staff person or small group leader who wouldn’t be willing (joyfully) to stop for a few minutes to pray with you. Or go up to the front on Sunday morning to have one of the elders pray for you – it BLESSES them to be able to love you in this way!
We believe that without prayer nothing else matters…let us pray for you!
