Guest Central is the favourite place for first-time guests to connect with our church. It is located in the lobby near the main entrance to our building. If you have never done so, we invite you to drop by after any of our weekend services to meet briefly with our Lead Pastor. He would love to extend you a warm welcome and present you with a Starbucks or Tim Horton’s gift card in appreciation of your presence with us. While you are at Guest Central, you can sign up for Harvest Essentials, where you will learn more about our church and have an extended opportunity to meet with others who are new.
Harvest Essentials is a monthly opportunity that we provide for newcomers and those exploring our church. This interactive class will give you a solid understanding of what it means to be a growing disciple of Jesus Christ, and you will also learn about the distinctives of Harvest Bible Chapel including our four pillars, our leadership structure, our philosophy of ministry, and our key practices. Come early to share some refreshments with other guests before we get started.
Our small groups are the primary pathway for you to build relationships with others at Harvest, to be cared for, to use your spiritual gifts, and to grow in your walk with Christ. A typical small group meeting consists of a time of worship and prayer, Bible study, mutual ministry time (men with men, women with women) and fellowship. The biblical curriculum is common to all groups and is usually based on the weekend teaching.
Belonging, fulfilment, relationship, encouragements…these are just some of the words that come to mind when we think of good reasons to join a church like Harvest. By joining, you will also know that you are following the pattern laid out in the Bible for followers of Jesus Christ.
Reasons for Membership
We believe that membership in a local church is the biblical pattern for followers of Jesus. And it really does make a difference!
• It demonstrates my commitment to Christ and his people
• It makes a powerful statement in our low-commitment culture
• It fights against my tendency toward unhealthy independence
• It keeps me spiritually accountable and under godly authority
• It helps pastors and elders to be more faithful shepherds
Requirements for Membership
• Testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ
• Baptism as a believer
• Completion of our Harvest Essentials class
• Submission of a membership application
• Interview with an elder
• Publication of membership intent for three weeks
Thanks so much for your desire to serve at Harvest. Serving in the ministries here helps to grow our church and give back what the Lord has given to us.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
At Harvest Bible Chapel we believe that Christian baptism by immersion in water is a public identification with Jesus Christ in his death, burial and resurrection. Although baptism is not required for salvation, it is commanded of all believers and is for believers only. Scripture shows that a person was baptized after personally receiving forgiveness of sin through accepting Jesus Christ. The waters of baptism are a symbol of our death, burial, and resurrection to newness of life that happens when we become a new creation in Christ.
Feel free to watch this message from Pastor Todd on the ordinance of baptism. If you have questions after watching the video teaching, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Before a baptism service we have an orientation class for the candidates to ensure that they understand baptism and to help them prepare to share their story.
We have baptisms a few times a year. If you are interested in baptism then please email Steph and complete the This Is My Story document that will help you think through your story so that you can share effectively at your baptism. You will need to take some time to pray and fill out these answers. The key is to be authentic and brief!
