Sermon Series: Joy Unleashed

Seems today to be more and more around us that drains the joy out of our lives. Certainly, there are some aspects of our lives that can bring us joy, certain times of year, extended time with those we love, reminiscing on past events. But with the challenges we experience in our lives, the many factors detracting from our health mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually, the darkness of the world and our own hearts at our doorstep all too often, the negativity perpetually around us in the news, living with joy can be a distant reality.

The book of Philippians, Paul’s extended “thank you” letter to the people in the church at Philippi, gives us some of the most well-known and used phrases in our Christian vocabulary. As Paul pens these words from his prison cell he details what it means to live with joy in light of Jesus Christ himself, in any and every circumstance.

As we dive into this book together, we’ll see where joy comes from and what it fuels in us, we’ll see what living with joy looks like, how it impacts our attitudes and actions and the effect it has on our lives and the people around us.
