Doing and being. Everyone who has chosen to follow Jesus is charged with engaging in ministry, fulfilling his or her purpose, pursuing the mission. That’s the doing part of being a Christian. But effectively accomplishing that depends on the character of the Christian. Apart from being what God wants you to be, the doing is just empty effort. So what does it take to be the kind of Christian that’s effective in his or her worship of, walk with, and work for Christ? The Apostle Paul wrote, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10a).
