Easily the most misunderstood person of the Trinity. Fully God. One in essence with the Father and the Son and yet distinct as a person and in activities. And because it is the Holy Spirit who was sent to earth once Jesus had ascended into heaven, the motivation should be there for us to understand all we can about the God who lives in us.
And the elders have set aside the next four weeks for that very thing: to understand and experience the manifest presence of God in our lives through a more complete study of the Holy Spirit. We’ll be in various Scriptures along the way as we study fourteen distinct activities of the Spirit. They will be grouped under four broad works of the Spirit: salvation (this Sunday), support (Oct. 13), service (Oct. 20) and sanctification (Oct. 27). I believe this is going to be an important series for our church as we grow in our understanding of our God and see how that transforms our lives.
